In 1883, Zeigler and Co. of Manchester, England, established a Persian carpet manufacture company in Iran. They employed designers from major Western department stores, like B. Altman & Co. and Liberty of London, to modify fanciful 16th- and 17th-century Eastern designs for the more restrained Western taste. Using highly developed dying techniques and the best artisans from the region, Zeigler created rugs with bold, all-over patterns and with softer palettes than the more vibrant Persian counterparts.
Nowadays, Zeigler is used as a generic name for this distinctive style of carpet, and is produced mainly by Afghan weavers.
The rugs come in the following sizes
1.80m x 1.20m / 2.00m x 1.50m / 2.40m x 1.70m / 3.00m x 2.00m / 3.00m x 2.50m / 3.70m x 2.70m / 4.20m x 3.00m / 4.57m x 3.66m / 5.50m x 3.66m / 6.00m x 4.00m / 3.00m x 0.80m / 3.66m x 0.80m / 4.00m x 0.80m
